Traversing a portal can create a dizzying sensation as one’s reality is shifted around them. Vertigo, a painted wooden skate ramp, speaks about balance, rotating orbits, and shifting perspectives, with a chromatic spectrum of graphic geometric shapes. We designed this piece playing off the shape of the ramp and the pendulum sensation that is felt as gravity switches back and forth as the ramp is ridden. Vertigo, creates a sensation of disorientation as the viewer’s eye moves across simultaneous contrasting colors and shimmering metallic silver and black stripes. We painted this ramp in Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico, “Museum of Art of Puerto Rico” as a part of Colectiva Monopatin 3, “Skateboard Collective 3” a group exhibition curated by Angel Alexis Bousquet of C787 Studios.
